divide without a remainder

How do I divide two numbers and get an answer that does not have a remainder?

Answer in mixed number form:

This strategy is just like answering with a remainder except now when you get your answer the remainder is the numerator of your fraction and the denominator is the divisor

This equation means we need to see how many times the divisor goes into the dividend

When we switch to long division mode we put the dividend under the division house and the divisor outside

3 goes into 16 five times with 1 left over, so in remainder mode we say 16 divided by 3 is 5 with a remainder of 1

But we want an exact answer so the remainder because the numerator of a fraction because it is the “part” left over and the divisor becomes the denominator because it is the whole that we started with.

This time the divisor is the greater number

The divisor goes outside of the division house

Add a decimal and three zeroes after the dividend and put a decimal on the division house because your answer will be a decimal

As you can see three zeroes were not enough, that’s ok, I just added one more zero to the dividend and kept dividing
